Amazon S3 is a distributed, highly available and cost effective storage system that is part of Amazon’s Web Services offering. Amazon S3 provides a simple web services interface that can be used to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. Leading Digital Asset Managemet software Open Text Media Management System, formerly Artesia DAM, requires a special plug-in to store and manage the content stored at Amazon S3. Open Text Media Manager has a pluggable interface that allows any API based storage system to be adopted to work with Media Manager. Amazon S3 Content Manager allows Artesia application to store, retrieve and purge any content stored on Amazon S3. Amazon S3 Content Manager can work with any given bucket either set as a default or passed in through OpenText Media Management APIs or a customized Asset Interceptor. Content manager can also set the access permissions on the S3 objects as public read only, public read and write, private and authenticated read only. Artesia for DAM Amazon S3 Content Manager can be used either for a Media Manager instance running on EC2 and accessing S3 directly or for an OpenText Media Management instance running elsewhere and accessing S3 remotely. In both cases, the content manager works and operates the same way:
